Good advice (I take berberine) but berberine also has to help your glucose get past the insulin resistance caused by the stress hormones. Obviously it would help to reduce stress hormones. Although berberine successfully replaces metformin, it doesn't cure the insulin resistance.
The recommended dose of berberine is 500mg x 3 per day before meals to replace the equivalent amount of metformin. I have found that this gives me equivalent blood sugar drop to metformin, but has not got me down into the 4-6 range. With just berberine I have stayed in the 7-10 range. So I have been adding a variety of other spices/herbs that are also claimed to reduce blood sugar numbers. They have each taken me down another .5 so that I am now in the 6-9 range.
I have found the paper attached below very useful as it has given me the big picture, that an awful lot of processes are used in sugar metabolism and each spice/herb with a good reputation does something slightly different. Which may be why there are so many combination products on the market and why specific supplements work for some people but not everyone.
I am currently taking berberine, ceylon cinnamon, fenugreek and turmeric, which are all very good health aides anyway, with or without the ability to reduce blood sugar. They are reputed to heal the pancreas and heal the liver and kidneys, so that can't hurt. My only issue is that they are all blood thinners and my blood might be becoming too thin. I need to find out how to test that.
But what actually "cures" insulin resistance, who knows? Medicine certainly doesn't. I suspect, as I said before, that the key is in the production of stress hormones, which stop sugar metabolism while they are in the system (and fenugreek helps with that).
I get them each separately from this site. These people give the best customer service I have ever come across and I hope that is reflected in the quality of the products. Australian though.
Have a look at Berberine supplementation....

What is the dosage and how do you take it?
Also, what does help with insulin resistance?

All conjecture and guess-work though.
